¡Raíces: First Year and Beyond!
is a first-year experience and student empowerment program at SBCC that centers Latiné students by celebrating Cultura, Conocimiento y Comunidad.

Why join Raíces?

Raices offer the following support and services to students:
  • Join a network of Raíces Scholars
  • Access Raíces Courses and Academic Counseling
  • Receive College Advising and Guidance
  • Connect with our peer advocates
  • Access to a study space, free printing, and school supplies
  • Get support with class registration
  • Participate in academic, cultural, community, and career events

Who can join?

ALL students are welcome to join ¡Raíces: First Year and Beyond! There are no requirements based on background, such as age, ethnicity, language ability, financial or legal status, or GPA.

How to join?

We welcome you to join our program by scheduling an appoinment our our Advising Staff, Nathalie Quintero or Sergio A. Lagunas, to complete a program orientation.  Links to schedule an appointment with our staff are provided below:

Raíces Program Commitments

When you join Raíces, you join our familia of academic advisors, counselors, faculty, and fellow Raíces scholars who will support you in the creation of your own unique educational journey.  Ad an active member and to enrich your experience with Raíces, we ask you participate in the following three commitments when possible

  • Enroll in a Raíces course(s) every semester if they follow your education plan
  • Attend Raíces events every semester.
  • Meet with a Raíces Academic Counselor or our Raíces Program Advisor every semester.
