Probation
There are two types of probation: Academic and Progress
Academic Probation

A student who has attempted at least 12 semester units and earned below a 2.0 GPA in all units at SBCC shall be placed on academic probation.

Removal occurs when a student accumulates a 2.0 GPA or higher.

A student who is on academic probation for two consecutive semesters shall be subject to disqualification.

Progress Probation

A student who has enrolled in at least 12 units shall be placed on progress probation when the percentage of all units enrolled and for which entries of "W", "I" and "NC" reaches or exceeds 50%.

Removal occurs when the percentage of units for which entries of "W", "I" and "NC" are recorded drops below 50%.

A student who is on progress probation for two consecutive semesters shall be subject to disqualification.

What happens next?

Probation interventions may include a restriction of units taken and/or registration and a Student Success Course.

Registration "holds" may be placed on students' records.
