You can still schedule your appointment using Starfish. When booking your appointment, please provide the best phone number for the counselor to reach you. Please be sure that you are logged into your Pipeline email account at the start of your appointment.

During regular business hours, counseling assistants will be available to answer urgent questions via email:

Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) provides access to a wide variety of software without ever having to set foot on campus. Think of it as remote controlling a loaner computer here on campus, only from anywhere in the world and from any device. You will get a due date notification from the library for materials to be returned by 5/8/20. We know you may need a few extra days to finish up final papers and assignments, so no penalties or fines will be charged for late materials, provided that the materials are returned before the end of May.
Return Dates for Students Taking One or More Summer I or Summer II Classes:
Devices currently checked out will be automatically renewed for students enrolled in Summer I or Summer II. The devices will need to be returned by August 8th. Specific days and times, and location, for returns will be announced in summer.
Social distancing measures and safety precautions will be taken when returning equipment.

I know many of you were disappointed about the decision not to hold an in-person Commencement this year. We are also saddened that this will not be possible. Our SBCC team worked diligently to ensure there is a meaningful virtual commencement for our graduates. In addition, we are committed to having an in-person ceremony at a later date. All current graduates will have the opportunity to participate in the in-person ceremony. You will have several months’ notice before this ceremony so that you can make plans, should you wish to participate.

We recognize that computer and internet access is a significant issue for a number of our students. We have developed a multi-pronged solution to address this matter:
If you would like the opportunity to bring a mobile or laptop device to access campus wifi, we are making that option available. Those wishing to do so may park in West Campus Parking LOT 4-D, East Campus Parking LOT 1-A, East Campus Parking LOT 1-B (see map showing the wifi strength in purple and orange). In order to participate, you must remain in your personal vehicle to observe social distancing.
Campus Security will be monitoring the campus and will be asking students to stay in their vehicles and not sit on campus property (refrain from using picnic tables, seating areas or grouping). Please understand this is to comply with social distancing orders from Public Health officials.
Here are some important tips regarding the campus during its online operations and student wifi and computer protocol:
Regarding campus access for students:
- Please stay in your vehicle while utilizing campus wifi
- Restrooms on campus are closed, please plan accordingly.
- Be mindful to not drain your vehicle battery.
- Maintain at least TWO parking stalls between your and other vehicles.
- The Library will continue offering Chromebook checkout. After check out, you are asked to return to your vehicle or home. Check our Student Resources page for more information on Chromebook checkout and what you need to do to obtain a hotspot.
- The College has placed an order to purchase 500 internet hotspots and will provide
them to students with the highest financial need, on a first come first serve basis.
[Note: Due to heavy demand, there will be a supplier based delay in receiving hotspots.]
Students in need of a hotspot should fill out the attached form.
(The college has also placed an order for a limited number of Chromebooks bundled with hotspots for students who may need both a Chromebook and a hotspot. The same form can be utilized to make this request.)
The Cartwright Learning Resource Center is happy to announce that we will have our Online Virtual Computer Lab and Computer Tutors available beginning Thursday, April 16th.
To accommodate diverse needs we will offer the following ways you can connect with LRC Computer Tutors and Computer Lab Staff:

We are trying to keep our remote support as simple and flexible as possible so that we can meet the needs of all students. We are available Monday-Thursday from 11 am-7 pm and on Friday from 9 am-3 pm. From there, we will help them find the best resources for their needs, including the possibility of connecting them with one of our tutors.
Please let us know if you have a writing-intensive class without a tutor and would be interested in the possibility of "embedding" a specific Writing Center tutor in your course. We would need to work out some logistics to do this, so we want to gauge the level of interest before moving forward with this as an option.

There have been questions about excused withdrawals and refunds. If you are still currently registered in courses beyond the date of March 13, 2020, and are impacted by the novel coronavirus, COVID-19, you may request an Excused Withdrawal (EW). The college is currently formalizing a process for students to make this request—this may take a week or so. My suggestion to students is to continue with your coursework since you will have ample time (at least to the end of April) to get an excused withdrawal without impacting your GPA. Concerns surrounding excused withdrawals, providing for Pass/Fail option and refunds have been major topics system-wide for the California Community Colleges. In addition, the recently passed Federal bill has implications for financial aid. It is worth waiting for additional information before making this important decision to withdraw. We will provide more information once details are finalized.
