PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
SBCC’s summer study abroad program in Vienna, Salzburg, Munich and Prague will focus on the areas of global relationship selling and international marketing. Often business uses historical figures and places to market modern-day products and services. On this study abroad program you will examine first-hand how Austria, Germany, and the Czech Republic market historical figures, people, and places through tourism, music industry, and educational programs.
While in Austria, the main goal will be to identify and understand how the historical Hapsburg dynasty has had an impact on currently marketed products. For instance, historical figures like Marie Antoinette and Mozart are more popular today as a type of brand used to identify modern day products than they were during their own times, and how they are consistently used to market major segments of the Austrian economy.
In Vienna you will have the opportunity to experience the music industry and tourist locations of historical significance. In the city of Prague you will see an interesting contrast to the other sites visited in that it is a city that for decades was untouched by a free market economy and therefore still faces many challenges and growing pains as a world class tourism destination.
