Shredding

OVERVIEW

Documents containing sensitive information such as social security numbers, bank account numbers, home addresses, etc. must be disposed of in a secure and appropriate manner.  The most secure method available is onsite shredding.  Purchasing organizes and funds two campus-wide onsite shredding days each year.  Prior to the scheduled shred date, a campus-wide email will be sent with instructions for requesting onsite shredding services.  Warehouse staff will collect, store and secure shedding in the Warehouse.  The selected vendor will perform onsite shredding on the schedule date.

Key things to remember:

  • Documents must be placed in standard document storage boxes with lids.
  • Storage boxes can be saved and returned if requested.
  • Non-sensitive documents may be placed in blue recycle bins located throughout the District.
