Evening Program

ADVANCED EVENING AND SATURDAY PROGRAMS

Continuously updating its curriculum to meet the needs of today's technician, the Automotive Program offers advanced classes at night and weekends. After successfully completing two of these courses, Auto 205, Auto 207, and Auto 220 you can become an emission specialist and meet the requirements to take California's State-Certified exam for smog control.

AUTO 205 ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTICS SECOND GENERATION (1.2 Units) Understanding second generation on-board diagnostics and the use of OBD2 compliant scan tools. Includes preparation for California State Certification exam.

AUTO 207 / SMOG CHECK PROGRAM UPDATE 1 (1.0 Units)
California Smog Check program update information. This short course is designed for automotive professionals who need to meet current Smog Check licensing requirements. This course fulfills the BAR update training requirement for emission technicians.

AUTO 219 ADVANCED AUTO ELECTRONICS (4.0 UNITS)
Provides basic theory and practice in automotive electronic system operation and troubleshooting.
Focus is on semiconductors and computer systems, as applied to engine control.
PREREQ: Eligibility for English 103
SKILLS ADVISORY: Eligibility for English 100,103; CNEE 150

AUTO 220 EMISSION CONTROLS (3.0 UNITS)
Emission control operation and diagnosis. Includes preparation for California State Certification exam.
Fulfills half of the BAR's emissions training requirement.
PREREQ: Eligibility for English 103; Auto 116, or equivalent.
SKILLS ADVISORY: Eligibility for English 100.
