Assessment
Assessment of your skills in English and mathematics helps you achieve your goals in college by placing you into classes in which you will be successful. It is important to do your best during testing so you will be placed in the highest courses possible.
The best way to plan for Assessment at Santa Barbara City College is to complete the following:
-
Prepare for testing: review the Frequently Asked Questions and download the REAP Test Preparation Form. If you are an International student, download the REAP form for International Students.
-
If you do not qualify for an Alternative to Testing, plan a day and time to come to the College and test. No appointment is required for drop-in testing. Since testing hours vary, check the monthly drop-in Testing Schedule carefully before making travel arrangements. All tests must be completed by closing: allow 2 hours for English and 1-2 hours for math.
-
Review the sample test questions.
-
If you need extended time or another accommodation for disability, contact the Disability Specialists, room SS-160 (805)730-4164 prior to testing. Important: You may only test once per testing period.
-
Bring the following required items to testing: a photo Identification, pen or pencil, a completed REAP form, and your SBCC Student I.D. Number (located on your individual Pipeline account). Note: Calculators and other electronic devices may not be used. Scratch paper will be provided for math assessment.
